Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida’s 19th district since 2021, shared his thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets. Donalds, who succeeded Francis Rooney and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020, expressed his concerns over political violence and social unrest.
On June 9, 2025, Donalds addressed an incident involving Colombian Senator and Presidential Candidate Miguel Uribe. He stated: “This weekend, conservative Colombian Senator and Presidential Candidate Miguel Uribe was shot in broad daylight during a speech.” He extended his prayers for Uribe’s recovery, describing him as “a courageous voice for freedom.”
Later that day, Donalds commented on civil unrest related to immigration issues. In a tweet posted at 16:40 UTC, he defined key terms from U.S. law and criticized those involved in protests: “ILLEGAL: Forbidden by law… Leftist agitators are rioting in support of criminal illegal aliens.” He emphasized that such actions would lead to arrests and deportations.
At 17:54 UTC on the same day, Donalds reflected on historical patterns of protest activities over various issues from pipelines to police funding. He remarked: “In ’16 they rioted over pipelines… We know their game; they want anarchy & their antics WON’T BE TOLERATED.” His comments suggest a firm stance against what he perceives as attempts to disrupt order.
Byron Donalds was born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently resides in Naples. A graduate of Florida A&M University and Florida State University with degrees obtained by 2002, he has been actively engaged in politics for several years.
