Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on August 6, 2025, addressing updates to immigration policy ahead of the 2028 Olympics and recent law enforcement actions in Florida.
In a tweet posted at 17:06 UTC, Donalds stated, “DID YOU KNOW: Ahead of the 2028 Olympics, an update to @USCIS policy now prevents foreign male athletes from entering the United States to compete in women’s sports. We will not let men steal trophies from women at the 2028 Olympics. This is COMMON SENSE.” The post references a change in U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services policy that impacts eligibility for foreign athletes competing in women’s events during the upcoming Olympic Games.
Later that day at 18:57 UTC, Donalds commended local law enforcement for preventing potential violence at Palm Beach International Airport. He wrote, “Yesterday, @PBCountySheriff deputies arrested a possible active shooter before violence could ensue. Thank you to the @flyPBI staff who took action to alert authorities & thank you to law enforcement for keeping Florida safe. Stay vigilant & if you see something, say something.”
At 19:05 UTC on the same day, Donalds also commented on public safety in Washington D.C., stating simply: “Make Our Nation’s Capital Safe Again “
Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, he holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
