Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on August 28, 2025, addressing issues ranging from hurricane preparedness in Southwest Florida to national travel costs and criminal justice reform in Washington, D.C.

In his first post of the day, Donalds alerted constituents about the upcoming peak of hurricane season. On August 28, he wrote: “ATTENTION SOUTHWEST FLORIDA We are less than two weeks away from peak Hurricane Season. Vigilance is important but preparation is paramount. The resilience of our community is unparalleled & together we will stand ready for when the next storm arrives in Southwest Florida.”

Later that day, Donalds addressed travel trends ahead of Labor Day weekend. In a post timestamped August 28 at 14:42 UTC, he stated: “This Labor Day weekend, millions of Americans will travel across our nation. Gas prices are at their lowest levels in 5 yrs—since 2020 Airfare prices have dropped 6% in the past year Under President Trump, we are Making Travel Affordable Again “

Donalds also discussed public safety and legislative efforts related to crime policy in Washington D.C., posting on August 28 at 17:02 UTC: “We are Making DC Safe Again and WE ARE NOT LETTING UP. In DC, 18-24 y/o criminals are STILL eligible to be charged and tried as youth offenders. This is wrong. My bill, HR 4922 – ‘The DC CRIMES Act’ ensures that if you’re 18 or older, you’re charged as the adult that you are.”

Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in January 2021 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
