Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address recent safety concerns and government accountability, particularly focusing on highway safety and economic data transparency.
On September 9, 2025, Donalds posted about a recent incident on the Florida Turnpike. He wrote, “What happened on the Florida Turnpike must NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. The failure of states to enforce basic and commonsense requirements for truckers is putting every American motorist at risk. At the state level, Governor DeSantis and Commissioner Wilton Simpson have taken action to https://t.co/l9KiLvWBxs”.
Later that day, he criticized the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for its handling of economic data: “.@POTUS was RIGHT––@BLS_gov is BROKEN. BLS failed again to deliver accurate, impartial, and transparent economic data. It’s time to restore accuracy and transparency to this agency, and as Commissioner, Dr. @RealEJAntoni, Ph.D., will do just that. https://t.co/adkINkmb99”.
Donalds also highlighted new legislative efforts aimed at improving highway safety standards: “.@tampafreepress: ‘Byron Donalds (R-FL) has introduced legislation aimed at increasing safety on American highways by cracking down on irregularities in commercial driver’s licenses and enforcing English language proficiency requirements for truckers.’ https://t.co/jMQrskKFkd”, according to his post from September 9.
Byron Donalds has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney. Before joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 through 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
