Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national and historical issues in a series of posts on September 2, 2025.
In one post dated September 2, 2025, Donalds highlighted recent violence in Chicago and criticized local officials: “THIS WEEKEND: 54 shot in Chicago. PRITZKER/JOHNSON RESPONSE: Nothing to see here. PRITZKER/JOHNSON IN @GOPoversight: Didn’t know how much of YOUR MONEY they waste on illegals. They don’t care about public safety and flagrantly violate federal law. These are not serious people.”
Later that day, Donalds commended the U.S. Coast Guard for a major drug seizure at Port Everglades: “DID YOU KNOW: @USCG just seized over 76,000 lbs of illegal drugs at Port Everglades. The seizure is valued at $473M and contained over 61,000 lbs of cocaine. Thank you to the heroic coastguardsmen, @DHS, and all involved who made this possible. We are Making America Safe Again.”
Donalds also marked the anniversary of Japan’s formal surrender in World War II with a tribute to veterans: “80 years ago today, Japan formally surrendered aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. To all who served our nation in World War II, thank you for your noble dedication to the defense of our nation, our values, and the free world. Your sacrifice and valor will NEVER be forgotten.”
Byron Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th District since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
