The Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida announced on Apr. 14 their endorsement of Byron Donalds for Florida Governor, citing his commitment to supporting the state’s construction industry, reducing regulations, and fostering business growth.
ABC is recognized as the largest commercial construction association in Florida, representing thousands of contractors and suppliers throughout the state. The organization said it supports Donalds because of his focus on workforce development, regulatory reform, and economic growth.
“I’m honored to have the support of Associated Builders and Contractors,” said Donalds. “As our state continues to grow, we must have a plan in place to support that growth. As Governor, I’ll fight to cut burdensome regulations, expand workforce training, and ensure our construction industry has the tools it needs to keep building Florida’s future. That means more jobs, stronger communities, and a state that continues to lead the nation in economic opportunity.”
Richard Backa, Chairman of the Board at Associated Builders and Contractors, also spoke about why ABC chose to endorse Donalds. “Byron Donalds understands what it takes to keep Florida building towards the future,” said Backa. “From reducing unnecessary regulations to investing in workforce development, Byron has laid out a clear vision that supports contractors, strengthens our economy, and creates opportunities for skilled workers across the state. We’re proud to endorse Byron Donalds and look forward to working together to keep Florida growing.”
According to ABC’s announcement, this endorsement adds momentum for Donalds’ campaign as he has already received endorsements from President Trump, Elon Musk, most sheriffs in Florida, 17 members of Congress from Florida’s delegation, U.S. House Leadership figures, three-quarters of Republican members in the Florida House of Representatives as well as other national conservative leaders.
The endorsement comes after reports that Donalds raised $22 million during the first quarter fundraising period and holds a significant lead over both Republican and Democratic rivals in polls related to the governor’s race.
